Biofilm: a challenge for the food industry

Biofilm formation is undoubtedly one of the major concerns in terms of hygiene in the food industry. In this sector, environmental conditions often favor the presence of a wide range of microorganisms, including pathogens such as Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella enterica, Escherichia coli, or Pseudomonas aeruginosa, capable of forming biofilms, constituting an invisible threat. Christeyns has developed a tool called TBF® 300, capable of detecting all types of biofilms and making them visible thanks to the presence of a colorimetric indicator that selectively interacts with the exopolymeric matrix. 
  
Once the presence of the biofilm is confirmed, it becomes essential to proceed with its removal. The Mida Enzy line is designed to eradicate the biofilm in a targeted manner, providing specifically formulated products to disintegrate it and prevent its regrowth. This approach significantly contributes to keeping surfaces clean and free from contamination, preserving the safety and quality of food products.
